All the Greatness that is Vouge UK

I really enjoyed this months issue of Vogue UK. They are definitely bringing in the New Year in a spectacular way. All of the editorials or so brilliantly done.

Cate Blanchett is one of the most stunning woman in Hollywood. She exudes such elegance and beauty. She is very versatile she so is natural, almost shy and descrete. Yet she is impossible to over look.

This editorial was shot by Tim Walker. I really love him ability to create such imaginative and slightly absurd scenes of a dreamlike quality. And of course shooting Tim Burton and the lovely Helena Carter was the perfect mix. I was very excited to hear that Burton is doing a version of Alice in Wonderland. It will be great to see what is going do with that story.

I thought this editorial was brilliant because they used a lot of clothing from older seasons. Even if they are too drastic to wear for everyday or anyday, they still reflect 2009 very well. It's not about having the latest clothing and everything anymore. It's about taking what you already own and making it into something new, by buying only a few new key pieces each season.

Oh and the most exciting news. Aaron Rose's character is no longer going to be on Gossip Girl. Thank god for that. He was such an icky manipulative hipster douche bag.

The funniest comment from that article:

3. Thanksgiving has already past.

4. We had Spring/Summer '09 Fashion Week.

5. The Strokes had there 10th anniversary. And they are reportedly working on a new album!

6. Coco Rocha has been immortalized.

9. There is going to be a Anna Wintour documentary shown at Sundance called The September Issue.

10. Rachel Zoe showcased a reality show. Which I must admit was not so bad.

12. Amanda moved in with Betty.

13. Beyonce wore Gareth Pugh! No one wears Gareth Pugh. Wearing Gareth is like wearing art. This is totally awesome.

14. Britney Spears wore Rodarte? Only Keira wears Rodarte, but more people should. I give Britney Kudos, or at least her stylist anyways.

15. A ridiculous rumor came out about Carine Roitfeld taking over American Vogue. That would be totally awsome but it would make Vogue Paris a little less special in a way.

16. I finally knew one of those fashion trivia things on fashionista.com. (I'm guest #5)

17. My brother and I decided that Morgan Freeman is God and my dad and I decided that Keith Richards is Jesus. It's a long story...haha.

18. Karl Lagerfeld directed a Silent Film about Coco Chanel. Starring Edita Vilkeviciute as Coco Chanel and Brad Kroenig as her lover. Edita is definitely one of a my "model crushes of the moment."

19. Kate Moss might be preggers.

20. Karl Lagerfeld presented Britney Spears an award.

21. Luella Bartley won best fashion disigner of the year Jourdan Dunn won best model at the British Fashion Awards.

Lately I've been spending time with my best friends "partying" since the first day of school starts this Tuesday. It's weird though, I feel like summer vacation just recently began. My heart says there is two months left, but my mind says I have two days left. The ending of summer is always very sad. At least I have fall clothing to look forward to.

Anyways, I took almost 300 pictures while I was in Colorado. So I'm going to make one post for each day.

Day One:

I went with my bother Ian and my Daddy. The Car ride to Denver took about 11 hours. We stayed with my Aunt and Uncle. They are probably my coolest family members, my aunt does a little bit painting and my uncle makes sculptures. And their house is filled with tons of random books, art and antique furniture.

I took random pictures of things when I was bored in the car.

I absolutely hate the show. But I still thought it was kind of funny that I was in the real South Park.

The Lake

I went to the lake of the Ozarks last week, and I had the best time. I went with my mom, my brother, and my best friend Kalyn. And we stayed with my Aunt and Uncle, they have a really big house there.

This room used to be a deck, but they had it closed in. And that would be me in the second photo (I was most likely dancing I didn't even know Kalyn was taking a picture)

They had sparklers left over from the 4th. So we used them up.

Highlights of the trip:

We were swimming around 7:00 p.m. and it stared to rain, very hard. But we realized there was no lighting or thunder so we just went in the hot tub. We were looking out on to the lake and we noticed a rainbow.

Later on that night around 11:00 everyone else was going to bed. I decided to go outside, dip my feet in the pool, and catch up on my reading. It was quite relaxing.

I finally bought myself a new camera. So I don't have to keep borrowing Kalyn's. And that means more pictures. Perfect timing since I'm going to Colorado this Saturday for a week. I'm doing a lot of traveling this summer.

The only good thing about the ending of summer, is that you get to go shopping for fall. I love fall and winter clothes. And lately I've been getting tired of the heat. So getting the Urban Outfitters Catalog for their early fall clothes got me excited (not enough to make me want school back though).

But so anyways back. I went to Iowa to babysit my cousins like I said. But instead of going home I unexpectedly went to the lake of the Ozarks. Lot's of fun, my best friend came down too. I will be posting pictures of that soon.

I'm to Iowa again today. I have to babysit my little cousins. And I'll be back in a week or so. But before I go, I'll leave you with some items I'm really digging right now.

Neon pink is becoming one of my favorite things to wear. And what better way to wear it than on your feet? From Delias.

And of course floral is a big trend this summer. And I think this would look cute (and prevent it from being too sleazy) over a solid grey tee shirt, the flowers also add to the cuteness factor. But if your brave enough pair it with a patterned tee, maybe stripes? From Forever 21.

Delias has a new style of jeans. They call the "super skinny" which intrigues me on so many levels. I need a new pair of skinnies anyways.

I'm obsessed with these Betsey Johnson tights. What else can I say? From Urban Outfitters.

Welcome to the new blog. I thought I was ready for a change. Making new posts on my other blog would have just been kind of sad. I neglected it for so long, and I didn't like the name that much anyways. And now that it is summer I have more free time to do more posts.

To start of this blog I put together a few cute outfits that I would wear to express my style. And to show what I has been catching my eye lately.

I love these dresses from AA. They practically define versatile. You can wear a shirt over it to make it look like a skirt, you can tuck it in so then it looks like a shirt, you can wear it with tights in the winter and fall, you can dress it up, dress it down. It is the wonder women of dresses, Wonder Dress! And here it is obviously a casual look, yet very stylish. I used lots of accessories, so I used a neutral nail polish. I don't like wearing dark shades in the summer anyways.

This is also a very casual look. I put together very neutral shades, but then had a pop of neon mixed in with the scarf. That is the key piece of the outfit I think. I'm digging neon right now. And of course gladiators.

This is my favorite outfit of all these. The Luella inspired (or you could say knock off) batman tee shirt. The cropped blue blazer. The floral skirt. The neon nail polish. The zipper detailed heels. Those are all key trends this spring/summer. But of course they still mix well together.

I loved the Givenchy gladiators. If only I could actually afford these. But to pretend, I would probably wear the to red carpet event or a fancy cocktail party (still pretending, sadly). I had to pick a fairly simple dress, I didn't want to make the it look to "dominatrix." So I went for a simple purple frock. The spiritual necklace is a nice touch to make the look toned down. I would have rather found a deep green clutch, but no luck there. I settled with this cute, gold, sparkly one. And no nail polish, I thought it would be too much.

The inspiration for this outfit was Alexa Chung, the striped shirt and bird necklace. Since the weather is hot I instead went for the shorts. And added some cute gladiator heels, a bag, and coral nail polish. Coral is also another great color to wear for summer.

On another note. Last month on the 13th I did the most amazing thing. The Nylon Summer Music Tour came to Kansas City. And how could I pass up such an opportunity? I mean Be Your Own Pet, Switchs, The Virgins (!), and She Wants Revenge was playing. And let me just say, it was freakin' fantastic! They were all really good. And I have never heard of Be Your Own Pet before. I listened to some of there music before I went so then I would know who all I would be seeing that night. The music was pretty good. But when I saw them live, they just had so much energy. It was phenomenal. And Cory Kennedy was on tour with them, she is blogging about the tour. I remember I was up by the stage dancing along to the Virgins playing (the lead singer is just lovely) and I turn around and she is right behind me with Jeremy Scott! Of course they were together though, their like best friends. The sad thing about all of this is that I had taken pictures of the evening on my phone. And I lost my phone! At least I got a shiny new pink razor, it's at least an upgrade from a old uber crappy phone. Anyways enough of my gushing.
